Our Heritage
CHRISTUS Health is sponsored by the Sisters of Charity
of the Incarnate Word of Houston and the Sisters of
Charity of the Incarnate Word of San Antonio. These
congregations were founded in 1866 and 1869
respectively, in response to Bishop Claude Marie Dubuis’
call: “Our Lord Jesus Christ, suffering in the persons
of a multitude of sick and infirm of every kind, seeks
relief at your hands.”
